Michele, it is great news that it was benign. You will likely not have any additional problems. Your surgeon sounds quite knowledgeable and was very cautious to remove a far margin of the gland. Although these tumors are benign, they can be quite persistent. I have just gone through surgery again after 8 years for a recurrence. Please be sure you are on a regiment to have your neck ultrasound every year . The sooner they find any the better. Because so many nerves run through this area of your neck, additional surgery can be difficult. Vigilance is the best policy.
